the start

Starting capital:
log of teak

Younique Yachts was never meant to be just a company. It was a strong urge to do things our own way. No hierarchy, no roadmap, just a shared mindset: work hard, think sharp, and build what others say can’t be done.

We started with two owners, two toolboxes and one log of teak. The log of teak was our starting capital. Because of the fortunate connections we already had in Makkum, we could pay of the log in two months.

Out of this teak we made a caprails and that is how our journey started.

Gathering like-minded people

From that spark, the culture grew. We didn’t hire people, we gathered them. A crew of doers, thinkers, and craftspeople who wanted more freedom, more honesty, and more room to build their way. People who see rebuilding as rethinking. People who ask “how hard can it be?” and then figure it out together.

How Legends Reborn
started

The real kickstart was the trust we received from our client Eric. without any references of what we could do, he recognized the culture. He trusted and participated in it. The project was a rebuilt of a Swan 48. That project, Lucky Bird, didn’t just open our workshop, it launched Legends Reborn. It showed what was possible when a client trusts the madness, and when a team dares to build like it’s personal.

More people same
mindset

After a decade. The team has become a lot bigger. Decisions that are made are a bit more mature. But the culture amongst our people has never changed and will never change. We try what others say isn’t possible. How hard can it be?

The yard? Still right here in Makkum, but now our own. It’s loud, direct, and full of motion. The office is connected to the shipyard, not closed off. Theory doesn’t live long here. What you sketch today, might be welded tomorrow. Because Younique was never about following the market. It’s about shaping it with tools in hand, boots on the floor, and a bit of madness in the air.

built together

A culture built on collaboration

At Younique Yachts, building a yacht is never a one‑way process. Owners become part of the journey, involved, curious, and shaping the project with us. we participate in open dialogue, make shared decisions and have a genuine interest in understanding what the yacht needs to become for you.
